Where Is God Leading You?

The Lord himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged.”

Have you ever felt like the Holy Spirit might be leading you somewhere? Is there a dream you just can’t get out of your mind? Is there a yearning in your heart to go down a certain path? Have you seen doors open and new opportunities arise? At the same time, you might also be facing obstacles and difficult decisions. If you are in this place in your life, then you are probably wondering how do I know if this is God’s will? This is a difficult question to answer, but this might help.

“Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know.’”

-Jeremiah 33:3 NIV

Have you been actively been seeking God and His will through prayer and studying God’s word? Have you surrendered your life and every area of your life to His will? This might require stripping away pride or letting go of old dreams or a painful past.

“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,” he said, “why did you doubt?”

-Matthew 14: 29-31 NIV

Have you focused your eyes completely on Jesus and pleasing Him? Or are you still seeing the storm and wind in your life? Sometimes our fears and our doubts can keep us from seeing our Savior leading the way. We must fix our eyes on Jesus. Other times, we get so caught up in pleasing those around us that we forget that ultimate purpose is to please God.

“You call me out upon the waters
The great unknown where feet may fail
And there I find You in the mystery
In oceans deep
My faith will stand…

Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders
Let me walk upon the waters
Wherever You would call me
Take me deeper than my feet could ever wander
And my faith will be made stronger
In the presence of my Savior…”

– Oceans (Where Feet May Fail) by Hillsong United

Are you willing to go wherever the Holy Spirit leads you? Are you willing to live God’s will for your life?

Dear Lord Jesus, please help us to be so focused on You that the chaos and confusion of the storm fade away and we find clarity in Your loving eyes. Please give us the faith we need to find peace in Your leading hands. Amen.

And through it all, through it all My eyes are on You And it is well with me”
